Monitoring and reporting on human rights: CHRDI seeks to ensure that these standards are put into practise, thereby contributing to the realisation of human rights.

Human rights issues and concerns frequently go unreported in Sierra Leone due to the high level of illiteracy and the small population.

CHRDI will continue to monitor Sierra Leone's government's adherence to the Harare Principles, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and other internationally recognised human rights instruments. CHRDI will assess national problems and report on specific issues in individual towns.

CHRDI has organised around six (6) thematic pillars

Our Aims & Objectives are as follows

To advance the fundamental human rights protected by the country's constitution and international human rights conventions and treaties, and development-related laws;

To raise awareness of the importance of the right to development as a significant issue for human rights and to give the national and worldwide public sufficient information about this

Conducting studies on development and human rights concerns both autonomously and in collaboration with other institutions;

Publishing studies, press releases, policy briefs, and reports on human rights, development, and social public policy issues

Organizing training programs, workshops and seminar on aspects of human rights, peace and security, and social public policy on and human rights;

To advocate for the ratification and implementation of all international conventions , treaties and obligations aimed at promoting human rights, peace and development in Sierra Leone;

To campaign for redress, and to support the victims of such crimes

To network with organizations working on various aspects of human rights and development.

Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI)

is a non-profit development, social policy advocacy, and rights-based organisation in Sierra Leone that uses rights-based voice and accountability approaches to bridge the justice and social equity gaps.
